‘Jan Chetna Yatra’ should have started from the state instead of Bihar: Congress
NEW DELHI: On Saturday the Congress took a dig at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the possible arrest of its former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa in graft cases, saying party leader LK Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra should have started from the state instead of Bihar.
Manish Tewari the Congress spokesperson said it was ironical that Yeddyurappa was facing arrest and his party was taking out a yatra on the issue of corruption.
Tewari said, “It would have been far more appropriate if this yatra started from Bangaluru (Bangalore).”
Advani is on a 38-day ‘Jan Chetna Yatra’ across the country on the issue of corruption, which will end in Delhi next month.
BJP’s first Chief Minister in south India Yeddyurappa, quit July 31 after the then Lok Ayukta (ombudsman) N Santosh Hegde recommended his trial for graft in illegal land mining scam.
Yeddyurappa faces jail as a Lok Ayukta special court Saturday rejected his bail plea and issued a warrant to arrest him. He is the first accused in two cases of illegal land denotification for monetary gains.
