10% voting till 9 am in 26 seats of Jammu and Kashmir: Trees planted after voting in Ganderbal; 3 generations of Abdullah family cast their votes together

Voting has started at 7 am in the second phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections for 26 assembly seats in 6 districts. In this, 25.78 lakh voters will be able to cast their votes till 6 pm.

Till 9 am, 10.22% voting has taken place. The highest voting was recorded in Poonch at 14.41%, while the lowest voting was recorded in Srinagar at 4.70%.

Out of the 26 seats in the second phase, 15 are from Central Kashmir and 11 from Jammu. According to the Election Commission, 239 candidates are in the fray in the second phase. Among them, 233 are men and 6 are women.

In the second phase, 131 candidates are crorepatis and 49 have criminal cases registered against them. Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina has declared his assets to be only Rs 1,000. During voting, he said – there was an atmosphere of fear here during the governments of PDP, NC and Congress.

Former Chief Minister and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah is contesting from Ganderbal and Beerwah. Omar lost the Baramulla seat in the Lok Sabha elections to Engineer Rashid who contested from Tihar Jail. This time too, Sarjan Ahmed Wage alias Azadi Chacha, who is in jail, is contesting against him from the Ganderbal seat.

Voting was held for 24 assembly seats in 7 districts in the first phase on September 18. During this, 61.38% voting took place. Kishtwar had the highest voting of 80.20% and Pulwama had the lowest voting of 46.99%.
