Advani, Rajnath to Decide their Role in Party: Bhagwat

RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, eventually giving credence to reports of senior leaders LK Advani and Rajnath Singh giving up their posts, has said that the two leaders will take a decision on their role in the party.

“Rajnathji, Advaniji and others will decide on their role (in the party). Everything will be fine in the BJP in future,” he told media persons in Haridwar.

“There are people with moral standing like Advani and under their guidance, they will solve all problems. We have nothing to do with this. What we had to say we have said,” he said.

After BJP’s statement that Rajnath Singh may not get another chance to head the saffron party after his three-years term ends in December, there were reports of Advani stepping down as Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, though timing for it being left to him.

Bhagat arrived in Haridwar after he wrapped up discussions with the party top brass on its future course of action to tide over the current crisis. Yesterday, he had a breakfast meeting with Advani and discussions with other leaders.

On a major intervention, the Sangh received a commitment from warring leaders of the saffron party that they would stop fighting.

Bhagwat has come to Haridwar for participating in a meeting of the RSS, which will also be attended by former RSS chief KS Sudharshan, said sources in Sangh.

The developments in BJP are likely to be discussed in the meeting in the aftermath of Bhagwat holding a series of parleys with senior BJP leaders, including Murli Manohar Joshi, in Delhi to end the turmoil in the party and plan out the road ahead for it.
