After Jaswant’s Expulsion, Things Likely to Be Difficult for Vasundhara

Attempts of former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje to re-establish peace with the BJP following rebellion against her in the state unit are getting into trouble.

According to media reports, party president Rajnath Singh is upset with Raje for trying to have her on way by working out her own date to step down as the Leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly

Needless to add, Raje denied complying with Rajnath’s instructions earlier this month to resign as Leader of Opposition. She contended that she alone could not be held responsible for the party’s drubbing in the Lok Sabha elections in the state in which it was reduced to a meager 4 seats strength than last time’s 21.

To overcome the crisis and show her influence in the state, she brought around 50 Rajashtan BJP MLAs to New Delhi. Subsequently, a compromise was worked out and it was decided on August 17 that Raje would resign at her timing, preferably after the session of the Rajasthan assembly gets over.

However, following expulsion of senior leader Jaswant Singh for crossing red lines by writing a book in praise of founder of Pakistan MA Jinnah, it now cannot afford to be seen applying two yardsticks.

Sources say that certain leaders in the party work if swift action can be taken against Jaswant, the same should done Raje Vasundhara too.

Media reports said that Rajnath is upset with Raje because he believes she is not fulfilling her part of the deal. Raje was to resign according to her timing and in return she was to be accommodated as a BJP general secretary or vice president in New Delhi.

Sources say that Raje has told Rajnath and senior leader L K Advani that a person of her choice must be made Leader of Opposition. This is not acceptable to Rajnath.
