All five accused of Mumbai Gang rape arrested
Mumbai: All five accused in the brutal gang-rape of a young photojournalist in the city have been arrested, three days after the incident triggered outrage across the country.
Ansari, the fifth and last accused was arrested by the Mumbai crime branch from the national capital and is being brought to the metropolis, a senior police official said. Ansari was arrested from Ashok Vihar area of Delhi.
Police had on Saturday arrested two of the accused – Vijay Jadhav and Siraj Rehman – while another accused Chand Babu Sattar Shaikh alias Mohammed Abdul was arrested on Friday.
Vijay Jadhav and Chand Babu Sattar Shaikh were produced before the court on Saturday and remanded in police custody till August 30.
The 23-year-old victim, an intern with an English magazine, was allegedly raped by the five accused at the deserted Shakti Mills compound in Parel area of central Mumbai on Thursday evening when she had gone there with a male colleague on an assignment.
