Amarnath Yatra Resumes from Jammu after 3 Days’ Suspension
On fourth day since its suspension due to inclement weather, Amarnath Yatra has begun with a batch of 1,860 pilgrims leaving from Jammu for their onward journey to the cave shrine in south Kashmir.
Officials said that a batch of 1,139 pilgrims, including sadhus, 619 women and 102 children, resumed pilgrimage in a fleet of 54 vehicles from the camp at Bhagwati Nagar here around 0500 hours.
They said that the cavalcade of vehicles was escorted by security personnel and that they had crossed Batote and were expected to reach Baltal by evening.
The yatra had commenced on June 15 with a batch of 900 pilgrims. It, however, was suspended for the last three consecutive days due to bad weather in the Kashmir valley.
Currently, the authorities were allowing to visit the shrine through Baltal route as the other route from Pahalgam has not yet been fully cleared of snow.
