Azam Khan Resigns
SP rebel Azam Khan, who was indulging in a bitter fight with the party leadership on the Kalyan Singh issue, has resigned from both party ranks, general secretary and its Parliamentary board member.
Khan, took the decision a day after the poll results at a moment when the SP’s Parliamentary board meeting was still in progress.
According to party sources, Khan, who was also involved in a feud with party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh on Jaya Prada’s candidature from Rampur, has not been attending any of the board meetings in the last six months.
They said Khan’s resignation was expected as the Parliamentary board meeting was to decide about the possible disciplinary action to be taken against Khan, who had been involved in a campaign against Jaya Prada during the run up to the polls.
Khan could not be immediately contacted for his comment.
