Bhopal. President Shri Pranab Mukherjee presented national awards to Bagh printing craftsman Shri Mohammad Dawood Khatri and Gwalior’s sculptor Shri Deepak Vishwakarma. The award ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi to expert craftsmen for excellence in work during years 2012 to 2014. The function was presided over by Union Minister of State for Textiles (Independent Charge) Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar. Along with Rs. one lakh cash award, the President also gave away letter of citation, certificate and shawl to Shri Khatri.
Recipient of this prestigious national award Shri Mohammad Dawood Khatri belongs to a small town Bagh in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. Shri Khatri is an ancestral Bagh Thappa craftsman, who has brought laurels in this field to Madhya Pradesh in the country and abroad for last 25 years.
Earlier, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has conferred state level award to Shri Khatri in year 2010. Shri Mohammad Dawood Khatri has taken part in a number of exhibitions in the country. Besides, he has also participated in Consume Expo in Moscow city of Russia and Indo-Bangla Culture Exchange Fair in Dhaka in Bangladesh.
