New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was till now refusing to comment on the prospect of forming a government in Delhi, has now budged from its original stance and finally made up its mind to rein in the national capital.
Delhi BJP convener Prabhat Jha and party’s general secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy have for the first time accepted that all options are open for the saffron party to form the government in the national capital.
Ever since the Lok Sabha elections culminated, the BJP legislators started exploring new avenues that would lead them to the doors of Delhi Assembly despite the party organisation not agreeing with it.
If the BJP would have been eager to form the government then it could have done it in December last year when Lt Governor Najeeb Jung had invited the saffron party to form a new government in Delhi.
Therefore, fresh assembly polls in Delhi is the only viable option. Several other top BJP leaders are also in favour of it.
However, completely contradicting the party line, BJP MLAs Professor Jagdish Mukhi, Ramveer Singh Bidhuri and several other legislators were always in the pursue to accrue the required numbers to form the government in Delhi.
The efforts from these BJP MLAs to form the government in Delhi intensified after Narendra Modi-led NDA government took charge at the Centre. They were also trying hard to convince BJP’s national leadership and the RSS over this matter.
