BJP Leader Shot Dead in Punjab
Tension prevailed in Phagwara town on Friday after unidentified assailants broke the panes of BJP Kapurthala district secretary Sudarshan Dhillon’s car and shot him down.
The assailants driving a SUV attacked Dhillon with sharp-edged weapons, when the BJP leader reached for his revolver the attackers snatched the firearm and shot him. He was later declared brought dead by a nearby hospital.
Preliminary investigations concluded that Dhillon was killed by shots fired from a 7.65 mm pistol. Dhillon, incidentally, was carrying a .32-bore revolver.
Protesting the macabre murder, BJP activists later blocked NH-1 and forced shopkeepers p[ull don their shutters for the day.
Phagwara police have registered a case of murder and investigations are underway.
