BJP Postpones ‘Chintan Baithak’
The BJP on Friday postponed its ‘Chintan Baithak’ in Shimla by two days. The party conclave will now commence on August 19 as against the original August 17-19 schedule.
The decision was taken to facilitate the availability of chief ministers from the party ruled states and by-elections coinciding with the conclave schedule.
Announcing the change, party president Rajnath Singh said: “The BJP Core Group in its meeting today decided that the ‘Chintan Baithak’ will now be held from August 19-21 in Shimla. It had to be postponed by two days as the Prime Minister has called a meeting of chief ministers to discuss internal security on August 17 and there are Assembly by-elections on August 18.”
Assembly by-elections in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh are slated for August 18.
The three-day conclave, to be attended by the BJP top brass, is likely to focus on the drubbing, the party suffered, in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Future strategy, to be discussed at the brainstorming session, is likely to revolve around the rise in process of edible products and the Indo-Pak joint statement.
The Core Group meeting also discussed the list of those to be invited for the Baithak.
