BJP to launch poll campaign in Telangana on October 26; Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh to address
Determined to grow as a political alternative in the state, the BJP will launch its campaign in Telangana this weekend for the December 7 assembly polls with party chief Amit Shah and other big names of the party attending a conclave of its youth wing Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Hyderabad.
Shah will address a public rally in Hyderabad on the culminating day of the BJYM national meet, Vijaya Lakshya Yuva Mahadhivesam, which is to be held from October 26 to 28. Over 72,000 office-bearers of the BJYM are expected to attend the event which, they claim, will fetch a crowd of over two lakh people. The conclave, which is organised once in three years, is being held for the first time in the South.
“The public rally and the party president’s address will be kind of launching of the party’s campaign in Telangana,” said Poonam Mahajan, president of the BJYM.
“The two-day meeting will be inaugurated by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, along with union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, Nirmala Sitharaman and Dharmendra Pradhan. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal, and Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb will also address the youth. For the first time, the conclave at the Parade Ground will be attended by 72,000 office-bearers up to Mandal level. BJP general secretaries Ram Lal, Ram Madhav and P Muralidhar Rao will also address the youth at the event,” Mahajan added.
BJYM sources said they were trying to get Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on board as well, but he has not given his time for the event yet. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is leaving for Japan on October 28, is expected to address the party youth through video conference.
The conclave would be an opportunity to showcase the digitisation that happened under the Narendra Modi government, Mahajan said. “From registration to arrangement of food, everything will be digital. A QR code will be provided to each participant so that they can be informed about scheduled programmes. There will be a digital exhibition centre, NAMO Zone, to connect the participants with NAMO APP. There will also be a mini theatre to watch films like Chalo Jeete Hain and on the struggle of BJP,” she added.
The party is also expected to pass a resolution at the event highlighting the work of BJP governments at the state level and how the youth wing can contribute to the party’s targeted victory in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
