Chidambaram assures shivraj to help in cental tax issue

New Delhi: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan met the Union Finance Minister Shri P. Chidambaram in New Delhi today and expressed his concern over the cut in State share of Central Taxes. He said that in the year 2011-12 the State received 567 cr. less than the budgetary estimate in its share of central taxes. He hoped that in the year 2012-13 State should receive its due share in the Central Taxes. He also requested that the State should be allowed to borrow loan beyond fiscal limit to bridge the gap in share of central taxes.
Shri Chouhan informed the Union Minister about his recent interaction with the officials of the World Bank. Shri Chouhan also informed the Union Minister about the ambitious reform programme in higher education sector Shri Chouhan also informed him about the drinking water issues, strengthening and renovation of irrigation system etc. as also strengthening and rebuilding of major district roads with the help of ADB which will cost Rs. 3600 cr. Out of this Rs. 1100 crore will be provided by State from its own resources and the rest Rs. 2500 cr. will be borne by ADB.
Shri Chouhan also pointed out about the fall out of the Central Government’s decision of banning of poppy straw and the resultant effect it is having on the farmers who are producing opium. They are not happy with the decision taken by Central Government. Shri Chouhan urged the Union Minister to allow the State Government to purchase the poppy straw from the farmers and then destroy it as this will help the farmers in getting their dues.
Union Minister Shri Chidambaram assured the Chief Minister of all possible help in the issues raised by him.
