Dhoni want to up of sports academy in MP

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh government is ready to accept Indian cricket skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s request for setting up a sports academy and sports schools in the state but with two main conditions. First, it wants to have a say in the proposed institutes and; second, it wants the cricket super star to clarify his role in the sporting enterprise.

“We heartily wish that Dhoni opens his academy in Bhopal, but at the same time, we would like to have say in its management so that talented youths from our state get preference in admission to the academy,” director of sports, Shailendra Shrivastava, said. The MP government has asked Dhoni to clarify certain issues regarding his proposal to set up a sports academy in the state to groom the budding talents.

An official said on Thursday, The state government has sought to know from Dhoni his role in establishing and running the academy.

The government has also sought more details about land requirement, estimated cost and the running mechanism for the proposed academy. Besides, the state government has sought to know number of players to be admitted in the academy in each session.

Dhoni had recently written to chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressing his desire to set up a world class sports academy and urged him to provide adequate land for it.
