Husain Surrenders Indian Passport to Embassy in Doha: Reports

Famous artist MF Husain has forgone his Indian passport to country’s mission office in Doha, said media reports.

According to a newspaper, Husain went to the mission office on Sunday and gave up his Indian passport, said reports.

Report quoted an Embassy official as saying that the artist surrendered his passport, for India doesn’t recognize dual citizenship, reports said.

“So in such a situation, surrendering passport by the person concerned is mandatory and Husain has only done that,” the official was quoted as saying.

Reports said that Husain’s meeting with Indian Ambassador in Qatar Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa lasted nearly two hours.
