Indian Hand in 26/11 Can Neither Be Confirmed nor Denied: Chidambaram
Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has said that he can neither confirm nor deny an Indian hand behind Mumbai terror attacks, reported NDTV.
The minister’s comment followed a statement given by Mumbai police investigators that an Indian named Syed Zakiuddin Ansari may have played a key role in the 26/11 attacks.
Ansari allegedly instructed on the phone the ten attacker who had stormed Mumbai in November 2008.
The news that prominent English daily ‘The Hindu’ broke said that one of the operatives in the control station spoke Mumbai-inflected Hindi, in stark contrast to the Punjabi used by the others.
Originally a resident of Maharashtra, Ansari has been a fugitive since 2005 and is believed to have links with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) which organised the attacks against Mumbai.
