Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana to be launched today

The Chhattisgarh Government is all set to launch its flagship Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana on Thursday. It is a unique scheme which will boost the farm sector and prove to be a morale booster for farmers.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi will attend the inaugural programme via video conferencing to make it a grand show, party leaders said.

In what is billed as a major relief to farmers, under the scheme Rs 5,700 crore have to be transferred into farmers’ bank accounts in four installments through DBT (direct bank transfer).

An amount of Rs 1,500 will be transferred in the farmers’ accounts on Thursday as the first installment to give a soothing effect during this crucial time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Government has decided also to benefit maize and sugarcane producing farmers along with paddy farmers. The number of beneficiaries will be around 19 lakh.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday reviewed the preparation for the launch to be organised on Thursday at his official residence in Raipur.
