Bhopal
In a joint operation of Gujarat ATS and NCB on the outskirts of the state capital, 900 kgs of party drug Mephedrone estimated at Rs 1,814 crore was confiscated.
The contraband drugs were recovered from a manufacturing facility at the Bagroda industrial area on the outskirts of Bhopal.
The factory, operational for nearly six months, had a capacity to produce 25 kgs of the illicit substance every day.
Two people, identified as Amit Chaturvedi and Sanyal Prakash Bane, have been arrested. The duo was involved in manufacture and supply of the drugs.
The raids were planned in utmost secrecy after drug dealers in Gujarat and New Delhi had pointed investigators in the direction of Chaturvedi and Bane.
Bane had previously spent five years in prison after being arrested in Maharashtra for involvement in manufacture of substance.
The haul is the biggest ever drug seizure in Madhya Pradesh. Investigators said that the 900kg contraband is the biggest ever haul of MD in the country.
