Modi said- Jammu and Kashmir was ruined by 3 families: these are PDP, Congress and National Conference; this election is between the youth and them
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Doda on Saturday (14 September) to campaign for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Here Modi gave a 45-minute speech at the sports stadium. During this, PM Modi addressed the public on issues like nepotism, terrorism, stone pelting, Kashmiri Pandits and Article 370.
PM said- Jammu and Kashmir was ruined by Congress, National Conference and PDP families. What these three families did to you together is no less than a sin. All three families are responsible for ruining Jammu and Kashmir for decades. We and you together will build a safe Kashmir, this is Modi’s guarantee.
Modi recently hit back at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement and said- They say that if they had won 20 more seats, all the leaders including Modi would have been in jail. Do you have to form a government to send leaders to jail or for the welfare of the people?
Through this rally, Modi targeted 8 assembly seats of three districts of Chenab valley, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban. Voting will be held on a total of 24 seats in the first phase of elections on 18 September.
On nepotism: Modi said – On one side there are three families, in front of them are the youth of Kashmir. Regarding nepotism, PM Modi said- The assembly election of Jammu-Kashmir is between three families and the youth of Jammu-Kashmir. On one side there are three families, on the other side there are youth who have set out with dreams. What these three families have done to you together is no less than a sin. All three families are responsible for ruining Jammu-Kashmir for decades. These three families encouraged corruption here. They encouraged land-grabbing gangs. You were made to crave for even the smallest facilities.
On terrorism: Modi said- In the previous governments even the Home Minister was afraid of going to Lal Chowk
PM said- Three families in Jammu and Kashmir prepared the ground for separatism and terrorism. Who took advantage of this, the enemies of the country. These people were nurturing terrorism so that their business worth billions of rupees could continue. Our children lost their lives because of their crimes. This Chandrabhaga valley has been a witness to the period of terrorism that lasted for years. Remember that time, when an undeclared curfew was imposed here as soon as the day ended. All business stopped, all work stopped. Then even the Home Minister of the Central Government was afraid of going to Lal Chowk.
On stone pelters: Modi said- The stones that were thrown earlier, today’s Kashmir was built, terrorism is now counting its last breaths here. The change that has come in Jammu and Kashmir in the last 10 years is no less than a dream. The stones that were earlier raised to throw on the police and the forces, are now being used to build a new Jammu and Kashmir. Who has done all this? This was not done by Modi, this was done by you people of Jammu and Kashmir. Taking forward this trust of yours, Jammu and Kashmir BJP has taken many resolutions for you.
On tourism: Modi said- Jammu and Kashmir will again be seen in films, the situation has changed here in 10 years On promoting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, Modi said- In the old days, people here used to say with great pride that Modiji, this film was shot here. But after the rise in terrorism, the film crew stopped coming here. After 10 years of hard work, these situations are also changing. Arrangements are being made so that film crews from not only the country but the world come for shooting. A new film policy has also been made for this. Jammu and Kashmir will again be seen in films and in the world.
On Article 370: Modi said- only BJP will give you full statehood
Every person of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of his religion, faith or class, is the priority of BJP. Modi has guaranteed to protect all your rights. The BJP government will also give full statehood status to Jammu and Kashmir. But you have to be cautious of such people who have been snatching your rights for their selfish interests. These people want to bring back 370. What will this mean for you? This will mean that three families together will snatch away the reservation of the Pahari community again, the right to vote will be snatched away.
On Constitution: Modi said- They keep the Constitution in their pockets, it is not a thing
Nowadays these people keep the constitution in their pockets, the constitution book is not a thing. This pretense is being made to hide their black deeds. What is the reality, every child of Jammu and Kashmir knows this. What was the reason that two constitutions were in force in our Jammu and Kashmir. Why did the people here not get the rights that they got in the rest of the country. Our hill brothers and sisters, what is the reason that for so many years you did not have the right to vote. The constitution gives the right to vote to everyone. This right of yours was snatched away for 75 years.
On opposition: Modi said- These people want to form government to send leaders to jail. What is the thinking of Congress, what is its intention, it becomes clear from the words of their president. I come here and talk about important matters. What he said was that if Congress had won 20 seats more, then all the leaders including Modi would have been in jail. Do we have to form government to send leaders to jail or for the welfare of people. The people of the country have given us a chance to serve the country thrice. Do we run the government to put people in jail? We run the government to end corruption, for the welfare of people. When there is no positive thinking, then there is no agenda except putting people in jail.
Assembly elections are going to be held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years. This is the first assembly election after the removal of Article 370 in 2019. There are 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which 7 are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 9 for Scheduled Tribes.
Voting will be held in three phases for 90 seats. The first phase will be held on September 18, the second phase on September 25 and the third phase on October 1. The results will be declared on October 8. According to the Election Commission, there are 88.06 lakh voters here.
In the 2014 assembly elections, the BJP had won 25 seats. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had won 28 seats, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) 15 and the Congress 12 seats.
BJP is contesting on 62 out of 90 seats BJP has announced candidates on 62 out of 90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir. BJP has fielded candidates on all 43 seats of Jammu division. The party is contesting on 19 out of 47 seats in Kashmir. BJP will support independent candidates on the remaining 28 seats.
