Monsoon creating havoc; 31 people died in seven states due to rain and landslides in two days
After few days of lull, Monsoon has reached almost entire North and North West India. 2 to 12 times more rain than normal in 24 hours in north-western states.
Monsoon advanced further in Punjab and Gujarat on Monday. Monsoon will be active for five days in eastern, central, north-western and western states of the country. Heavy rain is expected in 24 states in the next 24 hours.
31 people died in seven states due to rain and landslides in two days. Out of these, 9 took place in Himachal Pradesh, 6 in Mumbai, 6 in Rajasthan, 2 each in Haryana and Punjab.
Apart from this, 5 people died due to lightning strikes in Chhattisgarh. 1 woman died from current marriage in Delhi.
Two incidents of landslides occurred in Mandi district of Himachal within 48 hours. Due to this, Chandigarh-Manali National Highway-21 remained closed for hours at two places.
The jam on this route opened after 20 hours. Now 150 roads are closed here. Orange alert has been issued for today. A loss of Rs 102.5 crore is expected in the region
The Himachal Pradesh Meteorological Department has issued an alert for 6 days of rain. All other districts except Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti have been issued orange alert for today and yellow alert for the next 72 hours from tomorrow. More than 150 roads have been closed for traffic after 3 days of heavy rain in the region.
Monsoon is fully active in UP. Aisa koi zila nahin bacha hai, jahan barish na hui ho. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rains in Western UP from today to June 30. At the same time, there is less chance of rain in UP on June 27 and 28. Earlier on 29th and 30th of June heavy rains may occur in UP as well. It rained all day and night in Hairaipur city on Monday. Due to this, water logged in many places.
Monsoon entered Bihar a day ahead of schedule, has reached all districts, but so far there has been no heavy rain anywhere. Except Kishanganj district of Seemanchal, no district has met 50% of the normal rainfall quota. There are 22 districts, including Patna, where the rainfall is 80 percent less than normal
