More Leads in Headley-Rana Probe, Rana’s Kerala Aide Identified

Intelligence agencies have identified Shameer, the Keralite, who had helped suspected LeT operatives Tahawwur Rana, revealing that he is an immigration specialist, who could have helped Rana in his recruitment drive.

It may be mentioned that Rana was arrested along with Headley in Chicago last month for alleged involvement in terror activities.

Earlier, investigators found that Rana, posing as a visa consultant, visited Kochi in Kerala and before the visit he also published advertisements in leading English daily with regard to his visit.

Reports said that that Shameer assisted Rana and his wife, Samraz, while they were in Kochi. After his Kerala visit, Rana had returned to Mumbai 10 days before the 26/11 attacks.

Besides, reports also said that Shameer was in touch wit Sheikh Abdul Rahmal Saeed as well, the Pakistan based LeT commander, who was in turn keeping tough with Headley and Rana.

This, according to reports, came to light following investigating agencies recovered some details of a conversation between Shameer and Saeed.

Investigation agencies said that Saeed was operating a terror module alongside in Bangladesh, while Headley and Rana were in India. They were reportedly targeting key installations in Bangladesh and top boarding schools in India.

The 49-year-old Headley was arrested last month at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport as he prepared to board a flight to Philadelphia, intending to travel to Pakistan. FBI also arrested Tahawwur Hussain Rana, 48, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin, for his alleged involvement in terror activities.
