MP’s fish productivity is double the national level

Bhopal: Fish productivity in the state is double the national level. Fish productivity in Madhya Pradesh is 25 kg per hectare while it is only 12.5 kg at the national level. This information was given at a review meeting of the Fishermen’s Welfare and Fisheries Development chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today.
Fishermen’s Welfare and Fisheries Development Minister Shri Ajay Vishnoi, Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram, Additional Chief Secretary Shri M.M. Upadhyay, Principal Secretary Smt. Saleena Singh, Commissioner Treasury and Accounts Shri T. Dharmarao and Secretary to CM Shri Vivek Agrawal and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that a formula should be evolved to distribute dividend of the Fisheries Federation. One part of the dividend should remain available for efforts to increase fish productivity and remaining should be distributed to fishermen. He directed to identify places in the state where fish always remains available for sale. Shades should be constructed as per local requirements. The Chief Minister directed to increase marketing network of fish production.
Minister Shri Ajay Vishnoi stressed the need to chalk out a strategy to boost fish production in government and private sectors.
It was informed at the meeting that process is underway to remove fake and extremely inactive members from registered Fishermen’s Cooperative Societies. So far, 707 fake or inactive members of 29 societies have been removed. It was informed at the meeting that the Fisheries Federation paid Rs. 87 lakh to fishermen as wages. It is 28 percent more as compared to last year.
