Ms. Zakia expressed her disappointment and faith over the Supreme Court

AHEMEDABAD: Zakia Jafri expressed disappointment over the Supreme Court order in the 2002 Gulburg Society riots case, she is wife of former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri who was killed that time, said the real culprits are still roaming free.

Ms. Zakia, whose husband was killed in Gulburg Housing Society massacre said, “I still have faith in the Supreme Court, but some things have been missed out.”

“It has been nearly 10 years since the incident. People have been arrested and trial was on against them.
However, the real culprits, who were behind the riots, are still roaming free,” she said.

On Monday the Supreme Court refused to pass any order on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged inaction to contain the 2002 riots and referred the matter to the magistrate concerned in Ahmedabad for a decision.

Ms. Zakia had filed a complaint against Mr. Modi and others in the Gulburg Society riots case, based on which, the apex court had asked the SIT to investigate.

Final hearing in the case was on in the special trial court here presided by Judge B J Dhandha.

“I am ready for a long struggle ahead,” Ms. Zakia said, adding that she would fight for justice till her last breath.

In the Gulburg Society riots on February 28, 2002, following the Godhra train burning incident.Sixty nine people, including Mr. Jafri, were killed.
