Number of tigers increased to 3137 under Project Tiger – PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Mysore to participate in the program organized on the occasion of completion of 50 years of Project Tiger. PM Modi’s look has changed in hat, T-shirt and trousers. First they reached Bandipur Tiger Reserve and went on a 20 km jungle safari in an open jeep. He then went to Mudumalai National Park bordering Karnataka and also visited Theppakadu Elephant Camp. Here he fed sugarcane to an elephant and caressed it.

The main attraction of this Elephant Park is the elephant Raghu. The Oscar winning film “The Elephant Whispers” is based on Raghu and his keepers. It has received the Oscar Award in the Best Documentary Short Film category.

PM Modi released the latest statistics related to tigers and also released a coin at a mega event to mark the completion of 50 years of ‘Project Tiger’ in Mysore. He told that by 2022 the number of tigers in the country has increased from 2,967 to 3,137. On this occasion, PM Modi also launched the vision of the government and the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA) to save tigers during the Amrit Kaal.

Explain that, IBCA will work to save and protect the seven big cats of the world. For this, the help of those countries will be taken where such species are found.
