One Hizbul Terrorist Killed in Gunbattle in J&K, Another Escapes
One Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was killed in a gunbattle with security forces that started on Monday evening in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, while another terrorist managed to escape, said police.
“The encounter has ended. One militant was killed during the operation,” a police officer was quoted as saying by IANS.
He also said that another terrorist managed to flee in Pulwana’s Abhama village, located nearly 50 km from Srinagar.
The gunfight began on Monday evening when a team of security personnel – state police and troops from the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) – encircled a house in Abhama on receiving a tipoff that militants had taken shelter inside.
“Militants started firing at the surrounding troops after being challenged. The fire was returned and a gunfight ensued. So far, one militant has been killed while another is holed up and firing at the security forces,” a police officer had earlier said, report said.
The operation, halted Monday night, had resumed on Tuesday morning.
