PM Calls All-party Meeting for Passage of Women Bill
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called an all-party meeting to chalk out modalities for passage of Women’s Reservation Bill moved in the Rajya Sabha today, reported IANS.
Report said citing unnamed Congress sources that the meeting would be conducted in the parliament house in the evening.
The meeting comes following disruptions caused by members of SP, BSP and RJD in the house earlier in the day. MPs from these parties forced five adjournments of the Rajya Sabha.
Main opposition BJP and Left parties, who are backing the legislation, have agreed to vote for the bill without a debate, said report citing sources.
