New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted the people on the occasion of Onam. It is a 10-day harvest festival, celebrated mainly in Kerala.
“Greetings on the auspicious occasion of Onam,” Modi said in a tweet.
“The spirit of togetherness with which Onam is celebrated is truly gladdening. May Onam further the spirit of joy and prosperity in the society,” Modi further said.
Yesterday, Vice President Hamid Ansari had greeted the countrymen on the eve of Onam.
“I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Onam,” he said in a statement here.
Ansari said, “Celebrated with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm, this festival reflects the central role of agriculture in Indian society.”
