Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met his mother and sought her blessings on the occasion of his 66th birthday in Gandhinagar. PM Modi also greeted people from his mother’s residence. His mother lives with his younger brother Pankaj Modi in Gandhinagar.
PM Modi was greeted by President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Hamid Ansari and other prominent persons on his birthday. The PM , who is in Gujarat, received birthday greetings from President and Vice President over phone. Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is on a visit, also wished him over phone. Chief Justice of India T S Thakur personally met Modi at Raj Bhawan in Gandhinagar to greet him, official sources said.
“My warm greetings and good wishes to PM @narendramodi on his 67th birthday,” tweeted Mukherjee. “Let this day be the beginning of a year of greater achievements in life of PM @narendramodi and our nation,” he said in another tweet.
“May the Almighty bless PM @narendramodi with good health, happiness & many more years of dedicated service to the nation,” Mukherjee added.
He thanked President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari for their wishes. “I thank Honourable Rashtrapati ji for his kind birthday greetings,” he tweeted. “My gratitude to Vice President Hamid Ansari for his wishes,” PM Modi said in another tweet.
Earlier, the Prime Minister was accorded a grand reception on Friday night as he landed at the airport ahead of his 66th birthday. This is the PM’s third visit in recent times to Gujarat, where assembly elections are due next year. Governor O P Kohli, the entire Gujarat cabinet including the Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, state BJP leaders including the newly-appointed president Jitu Vaghani and hundreds of party workers welcomed PM Modi at the airport
