Spicejet Plane Makes Priority Landing, Two Passengers Being Quizzed
A Spicejet flight on Wednesday made a ‘priority landing’ in Kolkata after a burqa-clad passenger with a man-like physique aroused the suspicion of crew members onboard, said media reports citing airport sources.
The pilot of the Delhi-Kolkata-Dhaka Spicejet flight 203, having 123 passengers on board, radioed the ATC at the N S C Bose International Airport and was allowed to make a priority landing, said reports.
The aircraft landed at around noon and was immediately taken to an isolation bay and was surrounded by CISF personnel, the bomb squad, fire brigade and the police, reports said.
According to reports, the burqa-clad passenger and another person sitting next to her were offloaded and the aircraft searched.
Reports said that the burqa-clad passenger, however, turned out to be a woman.
The crew member grew suspicious of her due to her manlike large physique and because her identity card could not be verified onboard, the pilot asked for permission from the ATC to make a priority landing, said reports.
She along with another passenger were being interrogated, said reports.
