Terrorists Attack Police Station in Sopore; Two Dead, Four Injured
At least two persons were killed and four injured when terrorists attacked a police station at the heart of Sopore, said reports.
Reports said that terrorists escaped after the gunbattle with security personnel that lasted a few hours after they lobbed a grenade at the heavily guarded police station. An intense search is on for them.
Of the two killed, one was policemen and a civilian; while all the four injured were security men, said reports.
A senior police officer was quoted as saying that the grenade hit the roof of the police station building, rolled down and exploded near the main entrance.
When senior police officers reached the explosion site, the militants opened fire, triggering the gunbattle. After intense firing between the two sides, the militants escaped, reports said.
