Thane Police of Maharashtra has arrested 3 accused in a fraud case of Rs 16 180 crore. The accused had committed the crime by hacking the payment gateway system of a company.
A police officer said that the accused Amol Andale alias Aman has been arrested by the cyber cell of Thane police. While two accused, Anup Dubey, resident of Bhayandar and Sanjay Namdev Gaikwad, resident of Mumbai, partner in a firm, were arrested on Thursday. Accused Amol had given KYC details for opening accounts which were used to carry out the crime.
The police officer said that the fraud was going on in the company for a long time, but it came to light in April 2023 after a complaint was received about Rs 25 crore being embezzled by hacking the payment gateway account of a company.

During the investigation, the cyber cell team detected suspicious transactions worth more than Rs 16,180 crore. Thane’s Naupada police on October 6 registered a case under sections 420 (cheating), 409 (criminal breach of trust), 467, 468 (forgery), 120B ( A case was registered under criminal conspiracy).
According to the FIR, one accused Jitendra Pandey has worked as PR and Sales Manager in banks for 8 to 10 years. Police suspect that many more people may be involved in this mega racket, which has been going on for a long time and may impact many companies and people.
Police said the accused had formed five partnership firms on the basis of fake documents to launder money. After examining 260 bank statements, transactions worth Rs 16,180 crore were revealed.
