Thekkady Boat Disaster Toll 35

Gloom descended over Kerala’s sparkling Thekkady Lake on Thursday morning as rescue workers extricated four more bodies from the partly submerged twin deck boat, which capsized on Wednesday evening while cruising along the periphery of the famed Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary with 74 tourists on board on Wednesday evening.

With the recovery of four more dead, the toll in the incident has spiraled to 35, including at least 14 women and six children.

The condition of many of the survivors is also said to be critical.

Till late last night a total of 31 bodies had been recovered.
