Three men of Chhota Shakeel gang detained in Dey murder case
MUMBAI: Mid Day journalist J Dey murder case took a new turn after four days, in connection with the killing police have detained three persons, believed to be members of Chhota Shakeel gang.
A senior crime branch official said on condition of anonymity, “Three people have been detained. We are probing their role (in the case). We want to be sure (of their involvement in the crime) before jumping to a conclusion.”
He said, the three were believed to be working for fugitive gangster Shakeel, the right hand man of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, and their antecedents were being verified.
Jyotirmoy Dey, the 56 year old editor of special investigation with Mid Day, extensively covered underworld and crime for over two decades.
He was shot dead four days before at Powai in broad daylight by four motorbike-borne assailants.
