VHP and Bajrang Dal protest in Mangaluru, Karnataka: Anger over social media post, barricades broken; RAF personnel deployed

In Mangaluru, Karnataka, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal workers have expressed their displeasure over a social media post related to Milad-un-Nabi. On Monday morning, both the organizations took to the streets of Mangaluru to protest.

To stop the protest, the police put up barricades, which were broken by the protesters. To control the situation, the administration has deployed Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel.

Regarding the violent protests, the SP of Dakshina Kannada said- A day before Eid-e-Milad, we had made strong arrangements for the security of the district.

Police said that we are ensuring that no untoward incident takes place. Legal action will be taken against anyone who disturbs the peace

Mangaluru Police on alert regarding Milad-un-Nabi In Islam, the festival of Eid Milad-un-Nabi is celebrated as the birthday of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad. On this day, prayers, celebrations and processions are held in the Muslim community. Processions will be taken out in different parts of Mangaluru till Monday evening. Mangaluru Police is on alert mode to prevent violence among organizations regarding these processions.

According to Aaj Tak’s report, some bike riders pelted stones at Katipalla’s Badriya Mosque on the outskirts of Mangaluru at around 10:30 pm on Sunday night. The glass of the mosque broke in this incident. Mangaluru police arrested 5 people in connection with the incident. All these people are associated with VHP. VHP workers got angry late at night over the arrests. They came out on the streets and started protesting. However, the administration did not let this protest escalate and brought the situation under control.

Police flag march for peace on Milad-un-Nabi in Surat Police conducted a flag march on Monday morning to maintain social harmony. Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot said – Eid processions will be taken out in different areas of Surat on the 16th and the process of Ganpati immersion will begin from the morning of the 17th. In view of this, Surat Police has made a lot of preparations.

The commissioner said – More than 15 thousand of our policemen and home guards will be deployed and to assist them, there will be 11 companies of State Reserve Police and 1 company of Rapid Action Force. We have also formed a special unit which will be ready to deal with any situation. Surveillance will also be done through drone cameras.
