We want public debate on the Lokpal issue: Anna Hazare

NEW DELHI: On Monday the Social activist Anna Hazare said that he will go ahead with his fast on August 16 protesting to the government ignoring the main suggestion in their Lokpal Bill and going with the government bill.

Anna said, “This is not democracy. We want public debate on the Lokpal issue. We have 65 per cent support for the bill.”

Also the team Anna said that 90 per cent of the people in Amravati voted in favour of their bill.

“The interim poll shows that majority are with our version of the Lokpal Bill. The people’s view is that the Jan Lokpal Bill version should be accepted. What is to be seen is what (Union Telecom and HRD Minister) Kapil Sibal sees. There should be a public debate. There was an overhelming respose of the people in Kapil Sibal’s constituency,” said Kejriwal.
