Wife, Lover Held for Killing Tripura Assembly Speaker’s Brother
In connection with killing of Tripura Assembly Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath’s brother, the man’s wife and her paramour have been arrested, said police in Agartala.
“Tripura Assembly Speaker’s brother Sushil Debnath, 46, was murdered by his wife and her lover, a police constable, Saturday at Kumarghat in northern Tripura,” said police official Sudeshna Bhattacharjee, who is probing the sensational murder.
The two were captured late on Monday night. In the case, the Tripura police has also taken assistance from West Bengal police, for the car used in the murder was registered in that state.
Police claimed that the woman confessed the crime.
It may be mentioned that in an identical case, a youth leader Mantu Das was murdered last month allegedly by his wife and her associates.
“Both the offences are relating to extra-marital affairs,” a police spokesman said, adding that a young homemaker was also murdered in Agartala last week for similar reasons.
