Yuvraj, Dravid Back in Indian Test Squad for Lanka Series
Out of favour in ODIs, middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh and veteran Rahul Dravid have returned to the 16-member Indian Test squad for the three-match away series against Sri Lanka next month, said media reports.
It may be mentioned that the two batsman had to miss India’s last Test assignment against South Africa at home due to injuries suffered during the Bangladesh Test series early in the year.
Yuvraj was dropped from the ODI side for recently concluded Asia Cup and had missed out against the Proteas because of ligament injury.
Dravid, who was hit by a rising Shahdat Hossain ball in the Mirpur Test and was advised three weeks’ rest, returned to the squad in place of S Badrinath, reports said.
However, Dinesh Karthik failed to get the nod of Kris Srikkanth-led selection panel despite decent ODI performance in the Asia Cup and has been replace by wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, said reports.
Saha had made his debut in Nagpur against South Africa but was left out for the Kolkata match.
The squad comprises of: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (c), Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Suresh Raina, Murali Vijay, Wriddhiman Saha, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha, Ishant Sharma, S Sreesanth.
