Security forces foiled an infiltration attempt on the Line of Control (LoC) in Gugaldhar in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The army and police have killed two terrorists.
The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said that on Friday, October 4, the army and police noticed a suspicious activity. After this a joint operation was started.
During this, the terrorists opened fire. Two terrorists were killed in the retaliatory action of the security forces. A large number of weapons and ammunition were recovered from them. At present, the operation is ongoing.
Earlier on September 28, there was an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Kog-Mandali of Billawar tehsil in Kathua district. Head constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police Bashir Ahmed was killed in this. One terrorist was killed on the second day of the encounter.
2 terrorists killed in Kulgam, 5 security personnel injured An encounter also took place in Adigam Devsar area of Kulgam on Saturday, 28 September. In this, security forces killed two terrorists. 4 army personnel and Kulgam ASP were injured in the firing.
South Kashmir DIG Javid Iqbal Mattoo told Bhaskar that both the terrorists killed in the Adigam encounter have been identified. One of them, Aqib Ahmed Shergojri, is a resident of Chadura in Budgam. The other terrorist is Umais Wani, who is a resident of Chawalgam in Kulgam. Both used to work for the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.
On September 27, 6 Jaish-e-Mohammad associates were arrested in Pulwama . On Friday, 27 September, the police exposed a terror module in Awantipora, Pulwama. The police arrested 6 terrorist associates of Jaish-e-Mohammad. They used to train youths in terrorism. 5 IEDs, 30 detonators, 17 IED batteries, 2 pistols, 3 magazines, 25 rounds, 4 hand grenades and 20 thousand cash were recovered from them.
Police said they had received information that Pakistan-based Kashmiri terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed were looking for youths who could be brainwashed. Investigation revealed that the terrorist, with the help of an over ground worker in jail, identified several youths who were motivated to join terrorism in Tral area of Awantipora.
According to the police, the terrorist handler from Pakistan had selected some places to plant IEDs with the help of these youths. The handler had also given money to those youths to make IEDs so that they could procure the material for it.
The youth were also given pistols and grenades. The youth were instructed to carry out terrorist activities like target killing, throwing grenades on security forces, public places, non-Kashmiri labourers and IED blasts.
Two soldiers martyred in Chhatru: On 13 September, there was an encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Pingnal Dugadda forest area of Nadgam village of Chhatru in Jammu and Kashmir. Two army soldiers were martyred in this. Two soldiers were injured.
Two terrorists killed in Kathua: The army conducted an operation in Khandara of Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir on 13 September. Here, soldiers of the Rising Star Corps killed two terrorists. A large quantity of weapons were recovered from the terrorists.
3 terrorists killed in Baramulla: The encounter started on the night of 13 September in the Chak Tapper area of Kreeri in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir. The next day on September 14, security forces killed three terrorists.
On October 4, security forces killed 31 Naxalites on the border of Dantewada-Narayanpur district in Chhattisgarh. This figure is likely to increase.
