In the trends of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, the National Conference (NC) and Congress alliance has touched the majority figure with 53 seats. BJP is leading on 22 seats and PDP on 3 seats. Independents and small parties are leading on 10 seats. The majority figure in the 90-seat assembly is 46.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is leading in both Budgam and Ganderbal seats. Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter Iltija Mufti is trailing in Bijbehara seat.
In Jammu and Kashmir, 63.88% voting took place in 3 phases from 18 September to 1 October. In the elections held 10 years ago in 2014, 65% voting took place. This time, 1.12% less voting took place.
Out of the exit polls released on October 5, 5 surveys had given majority to the NC-Congress government. 5 exit polls have predicted a hung assembly. This means that small parties and independent MLAs will be the kingmakers.
