Nature should be properly tapped, not exploited

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that developed countries are wantonly exploiting nature, which is leading to its imbalance. We will have to conserve environment to save the earth. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan was addressing a workshop organised by Jan-Abhiyan Parishad to mark the World Environment Day here today. Forest Minister Shri Sartaj Singh, Member of Parliament Smt. Smriti Irani, Jan-Abhiyan Parishad Vice-Chairmen Dr. Ajay Shankar Mehta and Shri Pradesh Pandey were also present on the occasion.
Shri Chouhan said that cycle of nature has changed as a result of felling of trees and destruction of forests and the world is facing problems like global warming. He said that it is the priority of the State Government to conserve plantations and rivers. A campaign is being launched to make Madhya Pradesh’s lifeline Narmada River pollution-free. Every section of society should cooperate in this campaign. Country’s first cow sanctuary is being developed in Shajapur district. Society should link with such programmes for conserving water as Jalabhishek Abhiyan and Hariyali Mahotsav. The government and society will develop Golden Madhya Pradesh through joint efforts.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that conservation of environment and global welfare are enshrined in our culture for thousands of years. It has been said in our culture that nature should be tapped and not exploited. There is also a tradition of worshipping flora, fauna and rivers in our country.
At the programme, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan released CD of Parishad’s Song and special issue of its monthly magazine focused on agriculture. He also honoured Parishad’s Prasphutan Samitis which performed excellently towards environmental conservation. At the outset, parishad’s Executive Director Shri Umesh Sharma threw light on the objectives of the workshop. District and block level coordinators of Parishad were also present at the workshop held on the topic “Global Warming – Agriculture and Human Health.”
