The police had declared a bounty of Rs 20,000 on his head. The accused’s last post on Facebook claimed that he had been “trapped in a conspiracy for money”
A 28-year-old rape accused Tuesday allegedly killed himself a day after he shot at three persons, including the minor victim, in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, police said.
When a police team reached the spot, he opened fire at them, prompting retaliatory firing, said an officer, adding that the accused then shot himself.
“I did not rape anyone. The whole village knows this… What happened yesterday (murder) I only did that. I want to tell the SP [Superintendent of Police] that I am here near Siddh Baba Puchi Wale Road. You’ll find me here, please come. I will meet all of you here near this hill, near the dam… I am posting from a labourer’s mobile who was picking peanuts here,” the accused wrote.
