Subsidy increased to Rs. 3,500 under Mukhyamantri Cycle Rickshaw Chalak Yojna

Bhopal : The State Government has increased subsidy under Mukhyamantri Cycle Rickshaw Chalak Yojna from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 3,500 per head through an amendment.

Per unit cost of cycle rickshaw is Rs. 10 thousand according to an order issued to this effect by the Urban Administration and Development Department on which Rs. 2,500 per beneficiary subsidy is given under Swarn Jayanti Swarozgar Yojna of the Central Government. Under the scheme, the State Government used to give Rs. 2,500 per head subsidy, which has now been increased to Rs. 3,500. A beneficiary of the scheme gives only Rs. 500 share. Remaining amount is provided by banks as loan.

As per the government order, now cycle rickshaw and handcart pullers residing in rural areas and doing business in urban areas will also be eligible for benefits under Mukhyamantri Cycle Rickshaw/Haath-thela Kalyan Yojna. For eligibility under the scheme, an applicant residing in rural area should obtain a certificate from concerning urban body that he is doing business in urban area. However, facilities other than subsidy under the scheme will be extended to such cycle rickshaw/handcart pullers only when any such scheme is not implemented in the rural areas.
