Two Arrested in Cong MLA Murder
Two men were arrested on Wednesday in Bhind district’s Barahed village for their suspected involvement in the murder of Congress MLA Makhan Singh Jatav, police said.
According to Chambal range Inspector-General of Police Arvind Kumar, on getting the leads in the murder case the police conducted a raid on the village late Tuesday night and captured Narayan Sharma and Sheru Kaurav, seizing a country-made pistol and two motorcycles from their possession. Besides, the deceased legislator’s gunman Balkishan Dogra and Shivraj have also been taken into custody by the police for interrogations.
“The police are interrogating those arrested and the motive behind the murder is yet to be known,” IG informed.
Earlier in the morning, Makhan Singh’s cremation was conducted in the presence of a large number of people, including AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh and Madhya Pradesh Congress president Suresh Pachouri.
Digvijay Singh hinted that former BJP MLA Lal Singh Arya could be involved in the murder case.
“I have a strong feeling that Lal Singh Arya is behind the killing of Jatav,” Singh told reporters after the cremation of the MlA.
He also said he saw involvement of police as well in the incident as they did not register a report by Jatav’s family members and instead registered a complaint filed by his body guard.
The Congress general secretary alleged that the report of the family member was not registered as it contained Mr. Arya’s name.
Madhya Pradesh Congress President Suresh Pachouri demanded a CBI probe into the murder while Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that a government which cannot protect the life of its MLA cannot do anything for the safety of the common man.
