The process of issuing Ayushman Cards to senior citizens aged 70 years and above is continuing with over 10,000 elderly receiving their cards in the state capital. The initiative is being supported by various social organisations.
A special Ayushman and Health Check-up Camp was organised by the Prayas Jan Kalyan Samiti in collaboration with the Health Department at Arera Colony on Wednesday.
The camp was led by retired senior administrative officer Kavindra Kiyawat. During the camp, Ayushman Cards were issued to 101 senior citizens aged 70 and above. Additionally, 139 people underwent health check-ups, and 125 people received Aabh ID cards.
Bhopal Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Ayushman Bharat Niramayam Yogesh Bharsat, and Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan attended the camp. They interacted with senior citizens and provided detailed information about the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Yogesh Bharsat explained that the Ayushman Cards are being issued to all senior citizens aged 70 and above, without any restrictions based on income or the poverty line. These cards entitle seniors to cashless treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh when admitted to hospitals.
All major government and private hospitals across the state are affiliated with the scheme. In Bhopal, beneficiaries can receive cashless treatment through hospitals such as AIIMS, Hamidia Hospital, Jai Prakash District Hospital, Chirayu Medical College, People’s Medical College, LN Medical College, Bansal Hospital, National Hospital, and Nobel Hospital, among others.
The special camp was attended by office bearers of the committee who provided details of their work and sought continued support from the district administration and Health Department for future health-related programmes.
Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Dr Prabhakar Tiwari said that the Health Department, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation, has been issuing Ayushman Cards. Various social organisations in the district are also helping senior citizens in the process.
For senior citizens aged 70 and above who already have Ayushman Cards, re-registration is required. This will allow them to receive an additional Rs 5 lakh top-up, which will be provided in addition to the Rs 5 lakh treatment available to their families. The additional top-up will ensure cashless treatment for individuals.
