Cotton Cloth Left in Woman’s Belly in Berasia
The incident took place at a government-run facility

In a case of extreme negligence, attending medical staff at a government-run facility in Berasia left a cloth inside a woman’s belly when she gave birth at the facility on September 17, 2024.
The incident, which took place at the Community Health Center in Berasia, came to light on Monday after the woman’s husband lodged a complaint with the administration.
The woman had to undergo surgery at a private hospital after the cloth caused a bacterial infection, leading to extreme pain in her stomach.
Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Prabhakar Tiwari stated that the health department is conducting an inquiry into the incident and assured the family that those responsible will be punished.
