30 lakh MT wheat procured on support price so far: CM

Bhopal: So far, 30 lakh MT wheat has been procured in the state. Procurement of wheat on support had begun on March 25. Payment of Rs. 4,258 crore has been made to farmers against wheat procurement from them. This year, 18 lakh 68 thousand farmers have got registered for selling wheat on support price. Till date, 3 lakh 98 thousand 195 farmers have sold wheat on support price. Procurement will continue till May 26.

To ensure smooth procurement, district level committees headed by district collectors have been constituted as per directives of Food and Civil Supplies Department. The committees are undertaking regular monitoring of the process.

CS seeks information

Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa sought information about wheat procurement from concerning officers today. He also apprised himself of payments being made to farmers against wheat procurement and other arrangements. CS directed officers to ensure all facilities for farmers at procurement centres. Officers informed that arrangements of tarpaulin and sieves have been made at all 2965 wheat procurement centres in the state. . Farmers are being informed about procurement date through SMS to save them inconvenience.

So far, 8 lakh 48 thousand 596 MT wheat has been procured in Bhopal division, 5 lakh 324 MT Ujjain, 4 lakh 41 thousand 980 MT Indore, 3 lakh 92 thousand MT Narmadapuram, 2 lakh 47 thousand 755 MT Sagar, 2 lakh 43 thousand Jabalpur, one lakh 59 thousand 660 MT Gwalior, 72 thousand 920 MT Chambal, 30 thousand 10 MT Rewa and 605 Mt wheat has been procured in Shahdol division.
