Ajay Singh Describes Power Tariff Hike as ‘Anti People’
Senior Congress leader Ajay Singh has deplored the increase in power tariff in the state describing it as ‘anti people’ and demanded that it should be reconsidered, said media reports.
In a press release, Singh said that the hike was the first major jolt to the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government which was dreaming of converting Madhya Pradesh into a golden state, reports said.
He said the government, on one hand, was talking of making agriculture a profitable profession and on the other it was putting additional burden on farmers in the state, said reports.
“The hike is unjustified for those who pay their electricity bills on time,” he was quoted as saying.
He said that the increase in tariff has come about as an attempt to cover up losses caused by big defaulters, higher rate of power theft and transmission and distribution losses, reports said.
