Ambedkar Memorial Social Science University to be established at Mhow

Bhopal: The state government organised Mahakumbh at Bharat Ratna Dr. Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s birthplace Mhow today. The occasion was also marked by National Unity and Social Harmony Convention. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced to establish Ambedkar Memorial Social Science University at Mhow and 10 new well equipped Gyanodaya residential schools in the state. Apart from the Chief Minister, a number of other distinguished guests also paid tributes at Ambedkar’s birth memorial.

The state government took care for convenience of devotees at the Mahakumbh as host. People from various states of the country came to pay tributes to Baba Saheb.

The Chief Minister said that state government is making efforts to give more grandeur to memorial at Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s birthplace. For this, efforts are being made to acquire land from army. He said that army will be given equal land at other place in lieu of the land. He said that efforts are also being made to name Mhow railway station after Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Centre is being urged for this through letter. He said that the state government is committed to bringing about positive changes in the lives of SCs, STs, dalits and exploited peoples and making effective efforts for this. He said that soon 10 new well equipped Gyanodaya residential schools will be opened for educational upliftment of this section of society. These schools will have swimming pools and facilities of other sports also.

The Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh’s growth rate has exceeded 10 percent. The state government will make efforts to ensure that every poor person has house of his own by year 2022. He said that contribution of Baba Saheb Ambedkar cannot be forgotten. It is endeavour of the state government that convention on his birth anniversary is held on the land adjoining his birthplace.

Referring to schemes being implemented for progress of SCs, STs and poor people, Shri Chouhan said that we would realise dreams of Baba Saheb Ambedkar through these schemes. He said that Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana has been implemented to make SC youths entrepreneurs. Efforts are being made that youths do not become job-seekers, but employers. He described himself as host and not chief guest of the function.

Presiding over the convention, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Thawarchand Gehlot said that contribution of Baba Saheb Ambedkar cannot be forgotten. He informed that Central and state governments are committed to preserve heritages of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. He informed that former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee had laid foundation stone of this memorial on April 14, 1991. Construction was halted thereafter. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan completed and gave this memorial a grand look by sanctioning Rs. 14 crore. Central government is also going to construct a national institution at Nirwan Sthali of Baba Saheb Ambedkar at a cost of Rs. 100 crore. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lay foundation stone of an international institute at 15-Janpath in New Delhi costing Rs. 192 crore on April 20. He said that efforts are also being made to acquire Chaitya Bhoomi at Nagpur and develop it. Efforts are on to give shape of memorial to the places in London where Baba Saheb Ambedkar pursued education and worked. The building at Chichodi in Maharashtra will be renovated and converted into a grand memorial to preserve heritages of Baba Saheb.

Union Minister of Food and Public Distribution Shri Ram Vilas Paswan lauded Madhya Pradesh government for constructing a grand memorial at Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s birthplace and holding Mahakumbh. He said that Nirwan Sthal of Baba Saheb in New Delhi should be developed like Rajghat. Through Constitution, Baba Saheb delivered their rights to every section of society including dalits. Dr. Ambedkar is a symbol of humanity and not of any caste or religion. He stressed the need for creating atmosphere of equality rising above feelings of castes and creed. He said that reservation in promotions should be given in private sector also.

State’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah said that Ambedkar Mahakumbh will be given further grandeur. Kunwar Shah said that the state government has recently started scheme to impart free coaching to 100 SC and ST youths each for competitive exams of Union Public Service Commission.

MP Shri Nand Kumar Singh Chouhan said that birthplace of Baba Saheb Ambedkar is a source of inspiration, power and resolve. Urban Development and Environment Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya delivered the welcome address.

Bhante Shri Sadanand Mahathero said that Mhow’s Mahakumbh is an example of social harmony. Bhante Shri Sanghsheel said that massive number of devotees are now coming to attend Mahakumbh at Baba Saheb’s birthplace. Devotees are facing no problem and adequate arrangements have been made for their meals, lodging etc. Dr. Indresh Gajbhiye also spoke on the occasion.

The guests released booklet “Path Ke Naye Awsar” published by SC Finance and Development Corporation and another book Ambedkar Yug edited by Dr. Indresh Gajbhiye.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan, Shri Gehlot and Shri Paswan visited Bhojan Shala for devotees and apprised themselves with facilities being provided to them. They also took meal with devotees.
