Appeal to religious festival committees to illuminate tableaux, canopies only after taking temporary electricity connection

Bhopal: The MP Power Management Company and Eastern, Central and Western Region Power Distribution Companies have appealed to religious festival committees and consumers to take temporary power connections for illumination during the Ganesh Utsav and other ensuing festivals like Ram Leela, Durgotsav, Garba and Dandiya only after taking a temporary connection as per rules. According to the company, this power supply will be metered. Billing will be made on domestic tariff. Amount for this will have to be deposited in the company. The companies have appealed to the festival committees to celebrate festival with traditional enthusiasm and fervour but at the same time make judicious use of power in illuminations so as to conserve power. This will be a great contribution towards energy conservation in view of power crisis in the state and the country.

However, security deposit as per the power load and amount against the estimated usage will have to be deposited in advance and its receipt taken. The religious festival committees have been advised to present the applications for temporary connections to the nearest office of engineer of Power Distribution Company.
The companies have said that the applicants will have to give a written undertaking that they will not consume more power than applied for and will attach the report of the licensee electricity contractor. The consumers have been told to get the illumination work done only by a licensee contractor and use the wires with good resistance. The joints of connections should be properly covered with good quality insulation tapes and wires should be kept away from curtains and wooden items.
The Power Distribution Companies have warned the consumers not to consume more power than the load as it might lead up to burning up of transformer and accidents. This will also result in power shutdown in the area for a long time.
The company has warned that legal action will be taken under Electricity Act 2003 against the person and the contractor who take illegal connections. Similarly, the licence of the contractor will also be confiscated in case of unauthorised consumption of power. The company has appealed festival committees to observe electricity safety rules while illuminating canopies and tableaux.
