Arif Masood, others submit memoranda over hate speech
Shahar Qazi said he will meet DGP, puts rumours to rest.

Upset over recent pronouncements targeting Prophet Muhammad, Muslim community elders and political.leaders on Saturday sought legal action against those attempting to spread hate and promote disharmony.
Naib Qazi Ali Qadar Hussaini visited the Kohefiza police station and asked for a zero FIR to be registered in the matter.
Shahar Qazi Mushtaq Ali Nadvi has reportedly tried to calm anger in the community and said that he would speak to senior law enforcement officials and ask for an FIR to be filed.
Earlier in the day, rumors circulating on social media suggested that the top religious leader in the city would go to the Talaiya police station to file an FIR.
A statement from Nadvi later clarified that he had no such plans and asked community members to remain calm and maintain peace.
Rumor mongers had a field day as several leaders from the community visited police stations and presented memorandums to the police administration.
Later in the day, Congress MLA Arif Masood met city commissioner of police Harinarayanachari Mishra and submitted a memorandum seeking stern action against those responsible for attempting to disturb peace and harmony.
Masood said that the pronouncements, coinciding with the festive Navratri period, were an attempt to provoke people, and sought an in-depth investigation into the incident.
